Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of clothandchapter.com and purchases made from Cloth & Chapter.

Last updated: September 18, 2026

Cloth & Chapter is a trading name of UBERMENSCH LTD (“Cloth & Chapter”, “we”, “us” or “our”). Our registered office is Office 6024, 58 Peregrine Road, Hainault, Ilford, Essex, IG6 3SZ, United Kingdom. You can contact us at clothandchapter@gmail.com.

By using this website or placing an order, you agree to these Terms of Service. Nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot lawfully be excluded under applicable consumer law.

1. Eligibility and acceptable use

You must be at least 18 years old, or have permission from a parent or legal guardian, to place an order. You must not misuse the site, interfere with its security, introduce malicious code, attempt unauthorized access or use the site for unlawful activity.

2. Products

We aim to describe and photograph every product accurately. Colors shown on a screen can differ from the physical product, and packaging or minor product details may change without reducing the product's essential function or quality.

The First Chapter Kit is a DIY craft kit for converting a paperback you already own into a clothbound hardcover. Unless the product page expressly says otherwise, the paperback, printed title decoration, household scissors and utility knife are not included. Book cloth, endpaper and silicone brush colors may be selected at random as disclosed on the product page.

Sharp tools and adhesives must be used carefully and according to their instructions. The kit is not intended for rare books, professional conservation or use by unsupervised children.

3. Orders and contract formation

Placing an order is an offer to buy the items in your basket. We will email you to confirm receipt, but this acknowledgement does not mean we have accepted your order. A contract is formed when we send a dispatch confirmation.

Items placed in a basket are not reserved. We may reject or cancel an order for a reasonable reason, including unexpected lack of stock, delivery restrictions, suspected fraud, an obvious pricing error or inability to authorize payment. If we cancel after taking payment, we will refund the amount paid for the cancelled item and any associated delivery charge.

4. Prices, payment and taxes

Prices and currency are displayed on the product and checkout pages. The full product price, delivery charge and any tax collected by us are shown before you confirm payment. Payment is charged when you place the order.

Payments are processed by the payment provider displayed at checkout. We do not receive or store your complete card number. Your bank or payment provider may apply currency conversion or other fees that we do not control.

If a VAT rate changes between your order and supply of the product, we may adjust the VAT charged where legally permitted, unless you have already paid in full before the change takes effect.

5. Shipping and delivery

When an item is in stock, we process and dispatch orders within 72 hours after payment. Estimated delivery after dispatch is 8–12 days for the United States and Canada and 10–15 days for the rest of the world. Orders are sent with tracking where available. Full details are in our Shipping, Returns & Refunds Policy.

If supply is delayed by an event outside our control, we will take reasonable steps to reduce the delay and contact you where appropriate. We are not responsible for a delay caused by an event outside our reasonable control. If a delay is likely to be substantial, contact us to discuss cancellation and a refund for products paid for but not received.

6. Changing your mind and returns

Where applicable, consumers have a legal right to change their mind within 14 days after receiving a product. In addition, we offer a 30-day goodwill return policy for unused products in unopened product packaging, beginning on the date of delivery. Change-of-mind return shipping is paid by the buyer. These additional conditions do not limit statutory rights.

We also provide a one-year goodwill guarantee against manufacturing defects and quality issues, beginning on the date of dispatch. See our Shipping, Returns & Refunds Policy for eligibility and instructions.

7. Faulty or misdescribed products

We are legally responsible for supplying products that match their description and meet applicable quality standards. If a product is faulty, damaged on arrival, incorrect or materially different from its description, contact clothandchapter@gmail.com. Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, you may be entitled to repair, replacement, price reduction or refund.

8. Intellectual property

The website, brand, original text, photographs, videos, templates and other content owned by us are protected by intellectual property law. You may use our tutorials for personal, non-commercial craft projects, but you may not copy, resell, republish or commercially exploit our content without written permission.

We do not sell novels, official book covers, character artwork, publisher layouts or other third-party copyrighted content. You are responsible for ensuring that any design you create or upload respects the rights of authors, publishers, artists and other rights holders.

9. Personal use

Unless we agree otherwise in writing, products are sold for personal use and not for resale or other commercial gain.

10. Liability

We do not exclude or limit liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or breach of rights that cannot be excluded under consumer law.

Subject to the paragraph above, we are not responsible for indirect or unforeseeable loss, business loss arising from a consumer purchase, or damage caused by misuse of the product or failure to follow safety instructions. Where the law permits, our total liability relating to a product is limited to the amount paid for that product.

11. Personal information and cookies

We use personal information as explained in our Privacy Policy. Our use of cookies and similar technologies is explained in our Cookie Policy.

12. Changes to products or these terms

We may update products, site features and these terms for legal, regulatory, security or operational reasons. Changes apply from the date they are posted and do not retrospectively remove rights under an existing order.

13. Ending access or an order

We may suspend site access or cancel an order if you materially breach these terms, engage in fraud or misuse the website. Cancellation of an order does not affect rights and obligations that arose before cancellation.

14. Disputes and governing law

Please contact us first so we can try to resolve a complaint informally. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere, you may also benefit from mandatory consumer protections and court rights in your place of residence.

15. General terms

These terms, together with the policies linked from them and the information shown at checkout, form the agreement between you and us. If any provision is invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply. A delay in enforcing a right does not waive that right. You may not transfer your rights under an order without our written agreement, but we may transfer our rights where this does not reduce your protections.
